The C12 3 Summit is an industry event and a meeting for leaders of large enterprises to exchange and interact with each other and innovate ideas. The conference has high specifications and heavy weight, which can be said to be the weather vane, booster and gas station of the cement industry for many years. This conference discusses the green and low-carbon development of the cement industry during the "14th Five-Year Plan" and the mission and responsibility of large enterprises. This is a major issue that the whole industry, the whole society and even the whole world are very concerned about. For this topic, how we look at, how to answer, is related to the survival of China's cement industry in the next few decades and development prospects. Fully promote carbon peak, carbon neutral

Cement industry ushers in a new era of development

Since September 2020, General Secretary Xi Jinping has made important speeches on China's "carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060" on different occasions, demonstrating China's great historical responsibility to fulfill its responsibilities as a great power and promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind, and promoting China's new journey towards the construction of ecological civilization. At the recent "Leaders' Climate Summit", General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed the Chinese plan of "jointly building a community of human and natural life"; at the China-France-Germany Video Summit, three "most" words were used to summarize China's response to climate change. The firm determination: "As the world's largest developing country, China will complete the world's highest reduction in carbon emission intensity, and use the shortest time in global history to achieve the transition from carbon peak to carbon neutrality." The major strategic decision of carbon peak and carbon neutrality has far-reaching impact and great significance, which will lead China into a new era of ecological priority and green and low-carbon development.

Building materials industry is the carbon peak, carbon neutral action forerunner. Cement is an important basic raw material and plays an important role in economic and social construction. Cement is also a typical energy resource-bearing product. Due to the decomposition of raw materials in the production process and other factors, it "naturally" becomes a major carbon producer. Data show that in 2020, China's cement carbon emissions of 1.23 billion tons, accounting for 84.3 of the total carbon emissions of the building materials industry, accounting for about 13.5 of the country's total carbon emissions. Because of the huge proportion of carbon emissions, whether the cement industry can achieve carbon peak ahead of schedule is very important for the building materials industry to achieve carbon peak on schedule, and even affect the country's entire carbon emission reduction progress.

Throughout the development of China's cement industry, it is in a step-by-step innovation and change to grow up. Especially in recent years, in the face of overcapacity contradictions, environmental constraints, resource and energy pressure, under the guidance of industry associations, large enterprises take the lead and the whole industry work together. The cement industry has actively explored the road of self-rescue and achieved remarkable results. Take staggered peak production as an example. Since it was first proposed in 2014, from pilot demonstration to full implementation, from promotion and application to normalization of staggered peak production, it has gradually realized the transformation from point to surface. Data show that during the 13th five-year Plan period, the cement industry benefited from the staggered production policy, reducing carbon dioxide by 1.53 billion tons, sulfur dioxide by 53400 tons, nitrogen oxides by 1.96 million tons, and coal by hundreds of millions of tons, making a significant contribution to environmental governance. at the same time, it alleviates the pressure of overcapacity and improves economic efficiency. The reverse force of carbon peak and carbon neutrality not only poses severe challenges to the cement industry, but also contains great opportunities. General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly discussed the dialectics of "crisis" and "opportunity", pointing out that "crisis and opportunity always coexist, and overcoming crisis is opportunity" and "nurturing opportunities in crisis and opening new situations in changing situations". For the cement industry, carbon peak and carbon neutrality are not only the "sword of Damocles" hanging overhead, but also the catalyst of green and low-carbon revolution, which will open a new realm of ecological civilization construction and high-quality development. Therefore, to fully promote carbon emission reduction and achieve carbon peak ahead of schedule, the cement industry has the responsibility and obligation, but also has the foundation and ability. We should be confident about that.

China National Building Materials Group adheres to the "three principles of green manufacturing", highlights green environmental protection in the selection of raw materials, manufacturing process and product application, and pursues energy conservation and pollution control and carbon reduction in the whole process. In the selection of raw materials, we advocate circular economy, continue to increase the comprehensive utilization of solid waste resources, and increase the proportion of industrial waste residues such as slag, steel slag and fly ash to replace natural mineral raw materials, with an annual solid waste consumption of 0.12 billion tons. Vigorously develop cement kiln waste heat power generation, with a cumulative installed capacity of 2375 MW and an annual power generation capacity of 10.3 billion kWh, which is equivalent to saving 1.2 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 6 million tons. In the production and manufacturing process, efforts have been made to promote pollutant standards and reduce emissions. Since the "13th Five-Year Plan", the comprehensive energy consumption, nitrogen oxide emissions, and sulfur dioxide emissions of 10,000 yuan of output value have decreased by 25%, 35%, and 57%, respectively, and the decline has far exceeded The emission reduction targets of the national "13th Five-Year Plan. Promote ecological value-added services and build 25 collaborative disposal production lines with an annual disposal capacity of 2.52 million tons. Product application, promote the consumption of high-performance, high-grade cement and concrete, and actively help the country's clean energy development. For the first time, low-heat cement was used in major national projects such as Wudongde and Baihetan, and nuclear power cement was widely used in many nuclear power projects such as Lingao, Daya Bay and Yangjiang.

In terms of technological innovation, we have increased investment in science and technology in the fields of ecological environmental protection and pollution control, with a total investment of 8.5 billion billion yuan in the past three years, forming a number of major achievements in green science and technology. The achievements of pre-firing kiln technology, high-energy-efficient clinker calcination and firing key technical equipment, and fast-hardening sulfate cement have been included in the national low-carbon technology promotion catalog and national key new products. In terms of management innovation, the level of energy efficiency is continuously improved through furnace system optimization, motor energy efficiency improvement, grinding system optimization, intelligent manufacturing, etc. For example, during the epidemic last year, we successfully implemented "building from space" on the French MK3 project to build a digital smart factory, achieving an alternative fuel rate of more than 80%, and becoming a model for green and low-carbon international cooperation. In terms of business model innovation, we will vigorously develop the "cement plus" model and implement carbon reduction from the perspective of the optimization of the whole industry chain. To build a "I find a car" logistics platform, more than 400000 vehicles have been settled, which not only improves the efficiency of resource matching, reduces the unit logistics cost of 2-5 yuan/ton, but also greatly reduces the carbon emission and energy loss in the freight process. "I look for a car" is a shared platform for customers all over the country. China National Building Materials Group uses its comprehensive business advantages to continue to promote industrial upgrading, laying a good foundation for carbon neutrality and carbon trading. In terms of factory greening and mine greening, 48 national-level green factories and 45 national-level green mines have been built, and a number of "factories in the garden, factories in the forest, and factories on the grassland" have been created ". To help develop the new energy industry, carbon fiber, glass fiber, wind blades, copper indium selenium and cadmium telluride power generation glass, lithium battery diaphragm, energy 5.0 new housing and other new materials business accelerated development. Create a new future for green development

Large enterprises are the main force and vanguard of carbon peak and carbon neutral. As the world's largest building materials industry group, China Building Materials Group has a mission and a great responsibility. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, we will thoroughly implement the major strategic deployment of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, thoroughly implement the initiative of the Building Materials Federation and the requirements of the Cement Association, put green development in a more prominent position, and give full play to the leadership and leadership Role, take the power of the whole group, take multiple measures to promote green and low-carbon development, and help the industry achieve carbon peak as soon as possible.

To win the tough battle of cement carbon peak and carbon neutrality, we must work hard on "4+2. "4" is the four measures of carbon emission reduction. At present, the key factors restricting the peak of cement carbon are as follows: first, cement output. Under the background of overcapacity, the amount of output depends on policy guidance and enterprise self-discipline. The higher the output, the more difficult it is to reduce emissions. Therefore, it is necessary to balance and coordinate the process emission. In the process of cement production, carbon dioxide produced by carbonate decomposition of raw materials is the largest, accounting for about 60%; third, fossil fuel emissions, accounting for about 30% of all cement emissions, are also the key to emission reduction; fourth, indirect emissions, mainly emissions from electricity and heat consumption, accounting for about 10%. In response to these factors, we must focus on reducing development, raw material substitution, energy substitution, and energy efficiency improvement. "2" is carbon neutral, carbon management.

We must unswervingly and deeply promote supply-side structural reform, adhere to the reduction of development, promote the balance of supply and demand, and ensure the efficiency of the industry and enterprises. With good benefit support, enterprises can increase investment in environmental protection, strengthen the R & D and promotion of low-carbon technologies, and promote low-carbon capacity building, so as to play the role of "time for space.

Promote raw material substitution. First, product innovation, the development of low-carbon cement, the development of new cement products such as magnesium-Portland cement, alkali/polymer cement, pozzolan cement, etc., by reducing or eliminating the carbon content of the mineral raw materials used to reduce process emissions. The second is the replacement of waste raw materials. Many industrial solid wastes have the feasibility of replacing raw materials with cement, such as carbide slag, steel slag, fly ash, copper slag, etc. China produces about 3.5 billion tons of such industrial solid waste every year. It is worthy of in-depth study to make use of these bulk wastes and turn waste into treasure.

Accelerate energy substitution. One is the replacement of fossil energy. At present, the fuel used in China's cement industry is mainly coal and electricity. In some EU countries, the average fuel replacement rate in the cement industry exceeds 50%, the Netherlands is as high as 98%, and CRH and other foreign counterparts account for more than 30% of biomass energy. The second is to optimize the energy structure. Deepen the potential of waste heat power generation, increase the layout of photovoltaic power generation in cement plants and mines, encourage cement enterprises to extend the industrial chain, and increase the collaborative disposal of municipal sludge, municipal waste and waste incineration fly ash and other hazardous wastes in cement kilns.

Improve the level of energy efficiency. One is to pay close attention to energy conservation. The second is to promote energy efficiency technologies. At present, there are more than 30 feasible energy efficiency technologies at home and abroad. We should strengthen energy efficiency benchmarking and promote the experience of leaders.

The cement industry must achieve carbon neutrality through carbon capture, including traditional afforestation and other natural-based ways to increase carbon sinks, as well as emerging technologies, that is, the use of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology, direct air capture (DAC) technology for artificial carbon sequestration. It is difficult to reduce carbon in the cement industry. Only by adhering to the decarbonization technology route and using CCS technology to absorb carbon dioxide emissions from all aspects of the production process as much as possible can we achieve the goal of deep emission reduction. Large cement companies at home and abroad have tried and walked in the forefront, China Building Materials Group is also actively promoting this work.

To establish the concept of "carbon is an asset", since it is an asset that needs to be managed, it is necessary to find ways to flow. One is to actively participate in carbon trading. At present, the national carbon trading in the cement industry is on the line. We must actively respond to national policies and use market-oriented means to promote carbon emission reduction.
